Hinton Ampner Garden

What's going on in the Garden!

The South Border

Some years ago we removed the Holm Oak that had planted itself here and was not appropriate to that part of the garden. We have also cleared back the Aesculus parviflora (Bottlebrush buckeye or "dwarf horse chestnut") which suckers profusely if left un-attended. We have also cleared away some poor quality Mahonia. This sunny corner will be re-planted with sun-loving shrubs that can also provide a windbreak for the South Border.

The Winter Border in the Walled Garden

The Winter Border on the south side of the Walled Garden has been a great success with our visitors and we will be extending it closer to the shop entrance. This restores the border to its original dimensions as it was prior to the Walled Garden being used as the tenant's private garden between 1986 and 2005.
