Description:

A medium-sized (H 2m x W 3m), hardy, vigorous, suckering, deciduous shrub with arching silvery-white prickly stems with delicate fern-like, silvery-grey leaves covered in white flowers in summer. Once the leaves fall the silver-white arching stems are spectacular in the winter garden.

Site and Care:

Grow in well-drained fertile soil of any type in sun or partial shade. Prune back to 30 cm (1ft) above the ground each spring before coming into leaf which will reduce the size and encourage vigorous upright stems with good winter colour. Propagate by tip-layering in summer or division in the spring.
