Coulter's Matilija poppy
Description: A hardy perennial sub-shrub of the poppy family with gray-green, waxy-textured leaves native to southern California, growing in dry canyons, where it can exceed two meters in height and spread. In its natural habitat it creates woody stems but here it makes new growth each year.
Site and Care: Requires full sun and a fertile, well drained soil of any type and will benefit from an annual mulch in the winter. It will die back in the autumn and should be cut to the ground. Propagation is difficult from seed and it resents being divided or moved
