Description:

A vigorous perennial climber up to 6-7 m native to the Andean valleys with nearly cylindrical stems densely coated with yellow hairs. The deeply 3-lobed leaves, are finely toothed and downy above and grey or yellow beneath. The attractive blossom has a tube 7.5-10 cm long, grey-green, frequently blushed with red, and deep-pink petals flaring to a width of 5-7.5 cm.

Site and Care:

It is best grown in tubs, in full sun or partial shade, that can be taken in over winter as it will not withstand temperatures below freezing for sustained periods. The vine can be propagated from cuttings but is usually grown from seeds.
