Description:

Hardy, deciduous and vigorous growing to 2m (7ft).The airy, plumed seed heads emerge in late summer or early autumn, before fading to a silver-grey, and last until late-January providing a translucent veil in winter sunlight as they disintegrate slowly.

Site and Care:

Plant in good moist soil of any type, in sun or partial shade. Slow to clump up they should be planted in groups of three or five. They begin to reshoot inside the old stems early in the year and they should be cut down in late January or early February. Propagation is by division in the spring.
