Daphne odora ‘Aureomarginata’
Winter Daphne
Location:
The Church Border
Description:
A hardy evergreen medium-sized shrub (1.5m x 1.5m) of erect habit with creamy-yellow edged oval shaped leaves. Highly fragrant pale pink flowers in terminal clusters in mid- late winter, followed by black berries. It can be short lived – 10 -15 years.
Site and Care:
Grow in fertile, moist but well-drained soils with some shade. Not reliably hardy in exposed conditions and it resents being transplanted. Little pruning is required and it should be done after flowering. Propagate by semi-hardwood cuttings taken in July.
