Description:

A deciduous spreading, open hardy shrub with rounded or oval light green or purplish-red leaves, H: 5m S: 5m (15ft x 15ft). Masses of tiny flower stalks form showy, pale, plume like clusters which give it its smoke like appearance. Both the green and purple varieties grow here close together. Native to southern Europe and central China.

Site and Care:

Will grow in any type of soil in full sun or partial shade. It is a slow growing shrub that requires only pruning for shape but can be cut hard back if it gets too big. Propagation is by half-ripe side shoot cuttings in summer or seed.
