Description:
A hardy, deciduous, large spreading shrub up to 2m - 2.5m with curved, tubular,small purple flowers over 10cm ovate green leaves. Native to China both the foliage and the flowers have a lax habit.
Site and Care:
A trouble-free, adaptable shrub for sunny, warm positions. They sulk in shade and prefer well-drained soil. Deadhead to extend the flowering season. Cut the shoots back hard to within 12in at the end of March or slightly later. Hard pruning is beneficial to the plant.Propagate by semi-hardwood cuttings in September.
