Description:

A hardy, deciduous, medium sized shrub, to 2m, with conical spikes of reddish-purple flowers. As the flowers open, in August, the spike lengthens to 30cm mid-green foliage. Fast growing with arching stems of green leaves the nectar-rich flowers are irresistible to butterflies

Site and Care:

A trouble-free, adaptable shrub for sunny, warm positions sulking in shade it prefers well-drained soil. Deadhead to extend the flowering season.  Propagate by semi-hardwood cuttings in September.
