Description:

Uncommon small hardy deciduous flowering shrub, 1m by 1m, with ovate, dull purplish-green leaves and clusters of funnel-shaped, rose-pink flowers with paler insides, in late spring. The genus is native to East Asia.

Site and Care:

Does best in full sun and fertile, well drained soil, of any type, although it will tolerate part shade. Pruning should only be carried out after flowering. Older plants may need to be hard pruned every few years in early spring. Propagate by softwood cuttings in early summer, semi-hardwood cuttings in summer or hardwood cuttings in late autumn and winter.
