Description:
A large, upright deciduous shrub, to 2.5m, with 3-lobed, maple-like leaves deep bronze-purple when young, and purple in autumn. Lacecap flower-heads in late spring have deep red buds surrounded by white sterile florets.
Site and Care:
Does best in full sun or partial shade and fertile humus rich, well drained moderately alkaline soils, though tolerating most soil types well. Pruning is only necessary to maintain shape and should be carried out after flowering. Propagation is by softwood cuttings in summer.
