Location

The Tennis Court Garden

Description:

A small, multi-stemmed, hardy shrub 1m by 1m with thin stems and an irregular form. Pink or white, single or double, cherry-like flowers in spring. Fruits are uncommon. Pointed, serrulate, oblong leaves (to 10cm long) are light green. 'Sinensis' is noted for its double pink 2.5cm flowers and shiny green foliage.

Site and Care:

Suitable for planting in any fertile, well drained soil in a sunny or partially shaded position. Tolerates some droughty conditions and good drainage is essential. Pruning immediately after flowering will encourage growth of new stems for better blooms the following year. Promptly remove root suckers unless naturalisation is desired.
