Hydrangea aspera Villosa
LocationThe Autumn Border and the west end of the main lawn.
Description: A large upright deciduous shrub, up to 2m, with large, velvety ovate leaves. Flowers mauve, in flat heads to 20cm in width, with white sterile florets, in late summer.
Site and Care: Grow in moist but well-drained soil, of any type, in sun or partial shade. Light pruning is all that is required in late winter or early spring. Propagate by softwood cuttings.
