Hibiscus syriacus 'Woodbridge'

Hibiscus 'Woodbridge'

Location

The Terrace and Autumn Border.

Description:

A hardy medium sized slow-growing shrub that is one of the last to come into leaf starting yellow during June but becoming dark green in time. The flowers begin in July or August and last for several weeks. 'Woodbridge' is deep rose-pink with a darker centre.

Site and Care:

Hibiscus thrive best in full sun withstanding high temperatures and periods of drought. Soil type is not critical but they prefer free-draining neutral loam. They will benefit from a good winter mulch.Propagation is by softwood or semi-ripe cuttings in summer. Prune in spring, shortening last year's growth and cutting a proportion of older wood back hard.
