Description:

An medium sized hardy deciduous flowering shrub, 1.5m by 1.5m, with flaking bark simple, opposite leaves and star-shaped or cupped pink fragrant flowerss in late spring. The genus is native to East Asia.

Site and Care:

Does best in full sun and fertile, well drained soil, of any type, although it will tolerate part shade. Pruning should only be carried out after flowering. Older plants may need to be hard pruned every few years in early spring removing the older wood. Propagate by softwood cuttings in early summer.
